Stability Tests
In this video we demonstrate the superior stability of the EMG-6. Although not directly related to the manufacturing of the horizontal or vertical stabilizers this video demonstrates how a well-designed conservative approach to the stabilizers and their positioning results in an aircraft that is very comfortable to fly with good controllability as well as good hands-off stability. Under smooth conditions, with proper center of gravity, and with the aircraft trimmed properly the aircraft will literally fly itself to the ground without any input from the pilot whatsoever. Flying those ultralight aircraft in the early days that required constant attention to the flight controls to keep from upsetting the flight path can be very unnerving for a rookie pilot.

Horizontal Stab Leading Edge (Building the EMG-6)
In this "how it's made" episode of building the EMG-6 we look at how we go about bending the leading edge for the horizontal stabilizer using the pneumatic tube bending machine.
EMG-6 Hands Off Stability Test
Test flight number 39. On this flight test sequence we show the initial tests for hands-off flight characteristics. Although this is only a short flight we fly the entire downwind leg of the tow to 700 feet with our hands and feet off of the flight controls. In the video you can see by shifting the center of gravity through movement of the body I can control the direction and the airspeed of the aircraft. The aircraft is rocksolid stable and Trims up right at best glide speed. Even by taking my feet off of the rudder pedals shifts the center of gravity enough that you can see the nose pitch down slightly.

Another episode of "Building the EMG-6". In this episode we look at the process of marking tubing. Pretty much every component on the EMG 6 uses tubing for construction. In this video we show you how to accurately and easily mark tubing for these applications.

Fabric Punch Test (Rans S-12) FAILURE!!!
In this video we go through the entire process of punch testing the Dacron sailcloth on a Rans S 12 using a Maule punch tester and a Quicksilver Dacron sailcloth punch tester.
