Polini Thor 250 Dual Spark engine

The Polini Thor 250 Dual Spark is one of the reciprocating options adapted to the EMG-6 — for builders who want longer cross-country legs, or who want to fly the airframe while the electric system is still being refined.

It is a liquid-cooled 244 cc two-stroke: 36.5 horsepower at 7,500 rpm, a balancing countershaft, oil-bath centrifugal clutch, helical reduction, electric start plus a Flash Starter pull start. Dry weight is about 18.5 kilograms without the radiator, 19.5 with the electric starter. Fuel is unleaded with two percent synthetic oil.

The architecture of the EMG-6 was always modular. Wing pods take electric or two-stroke packages. The Polini is the two-stroke that was on the table in 2015, and the drawings still leave the door open.
