EMG-6 Prototype #2 finishes certification on Thursday, we conduct 12 test flights on Friday, and aircraft is being disassembled on Saturday for the trip to EAA Air Venture 2016 in Oshkosh Wisconsin. this video is a compilation of the flights that occurred on Friday July 15, 2016

This is a remastered Version of the EMG-6 Electric Motor Glider webinar hosted by EAA 10-19-2016. We have added video in post and cut some of the content to make it more relevant. this is a good introduction to the EMG-6 electric motor glider.

Test flight number 39. On this flight test sequence we show the initial tests for hands-off flight characteristics. Although this is only a short flight we fly the entire downwind leg of the tow to 700 feet with our hands and feet off of the flight controls. In the video you can see by shifting the center of gravity through movement of the body I can control the direction and the airspeed of the aircraft. The aircraft is rocksolid stable and Trims up right at best glide speed. Even by taking my feet off of the rudder pedals shifts the center of gravity enough that you can see the nose pitch down slightly.

Carol Carpenter Flies the EMG-6-250. These are the last flights on the EMG-6-250 . The engine and many of the parts were removed to complete Prototype #2 and to facilitate the Installation of the Polini 250 into the Cabin of Prototype #3. This will be a completely enclosed version similar to Prototype #2 but #2 is currently being fitted with the Electric Power Plant. Our First flight after returning from the Oshkosh AirVenture 2015 Airshow. After reassembly and a good pre-flight we are back in the air. In this video we decided to get some video from a little different perspective.

On this test flight we test the newly installed tow hook position for the Aero tow position. In addition we are testing the poly fiber covered low drag rudder. We are using the Quicksilver GT-500 As a tow aircraft.

The EMG-6 flew during every available session during air venture 2015. However there was only one session during the very 1st day that we were able to shoot video. My son Kristian Was the cameraman. This year at Oshkosh was the best year in 10 years in terms of the attendance in the ultralight area. With I think 30+ vendors also a new record. The flight operations area was very crowded and the amount of flight time was somewhat limited. Most of the flight operations windows were limited And typically we would only get 4 circuits within the traffic pattern before we were shut down. We did manage however to get a total of 4.3 hours on the aircraft at the show.

This is the 1st test flight series using the predator 37 electric sustainer motor on the EMG-6. This is the 3rd of 3 test flights that were conducted on July 7, 2014. In this video we get a surprise malfunction during the end of the flight.

This is the EMG-6 first Aero-tow with the Quicksilver GT-500 Tow plane. Towing with the ground tow hook location proved to be a big challenge. The EMG-6 required nearly full down elevator to correct for the pitching moment. Flight altitude 2700 ft AGL.

In this video we are showing the results of our attempt to Aero tow the EMG 6 behind a Quicksilver single place Sport. On a 90°F day 40 hp and 2 pilots each weighing in over 220 pounds the rate of climb was insufficient to be able to continue the flight.

Test flight number 41 During this test flight we were flying the aircraft in gusty wind conditions consistently gusting above 17 mph. The 4 launches that we conducted this day were fairly aggressive with rates of climb up to 1500 ft./m.

Test flight number 44 and we experience a safety link failure on launch. During this test flight we were flying the aircraft in gusty wind conditions consistently gusting above 17 mph. The 4 launches that we conducted this day were fairly aggressive with rates of climb up to 1500 ft./m. At the end of the flight with the aircraft still on the ground you can see the wind gusting and indicating 17 mph on the airspeed indicator. The airspeed indicator does not register until 15 mph.
